Leslie Sorg Ramsay

Leslie jumped into art the same way she worked in national communications - intensely with great gusto. Creating and exhibiting art was natural due to her high aptitude in color and design*. For decades her work in nationally known organizations focused on project management, business development, research and writing including promotional materials, articles, testimony and briefing books for US Presidents.

She is attracted to any opportunity that uses her visual creativeness from magazine/newsletter layout and design, designing invitations or creating props for 20 theater productions. She also has designed and sewn her own professional clothes/suits, ball gowns, home furnishings, i.e., pillows, curtains, and made sofa “slipcovers in a weekend.”

After decades in PR and marketing, Leslie always thinks first of the audience and customer needs. She wrote/published a book focused on the needs/interests of the gift recipients - Gifting Right; How to Choose Gifts for every Person, Occasion and Budget.

Leslie, dubbed the "pop-up volunteer," has been an active volunteer with multiple arts nonprofit organizations - curating and exhibiting dozens of art exhibits, managing art scholarships, teaching kids art/art history, obtaining 100+ auction items for fundraisers, and arranging 80 musical programs.

Leslie’s art has been exhibited in multiple galleries in Arizona, Virginia and Washington DC. She is a lifelong learner of many subjects and continues to study art at college and with talented internet instruction artists.

At 18, she chose never to be bored and never has been. She is a voracious researcher and also keeps up with national-international news. Art, cooking and animals also relax her brain.

Leslie lifted by sailors at 1986 film premiere party for Top Gun. The sailors were guarding 3 fighter jets behind velvet ropes at the edge of the event's dining “room” which was a hanger at National Airport in DC.

Life. Every day and moment inspires me. So much to see and learn. So many subjects to paint.

Techniques

Oil paint reveals a richness of color and texture I prefer. Yet, all mediums are expressive so I create and learn many. Creating 3D in metal sculptures or designing/making theater props also is satisfying.
